"Retirement – You’re Doing It Wrong!
"So Rachel & I knew there could be no other tagline for my biography here -- because while I don't admit failure well, "retiring" is something I've now failed at twice in my life! But working alongside her at Coleman/Quiner beats being on the road for 40,000/miles every year & also beats staying home on my own! So I am happy to spend my days as her assistant – as the dyed-in-the-wool extrovert I am, it's a great gig being able to welcome clients when they walk in the door, say hello when they call, & pretty much juggle all the people & things we have going on!
I even get most Friday afternoons off! (except, when I don't)
I've actually got several decades of my own experience in the financial services business but was a teacher & a coach in my far-younger years, so the role of helping to guide & explain this business to our clients is something I love being able to do. There are no silly questions, & no one we're too busy to help. I don't always know the answers, but I know how to find the answer, or can find the person who does.
Like Rachel, I’m a Midwest native but a transplant to Iowa -- & because you can take the boy out of Kansas City but you can’t take Kansas City out of the boy, Jayhawk & Chiefs TV will always rule at our house. I did, however, trade in my golf clubs for a bike (okay, maybe several) & join the cycling faithful of Iowa, so we can travel around the Midwest to ride new trails (or old but well-loved & familiar trails, too).
I hope to see your smiling face the next time (or the first time) you come visit us at the office, you will definitely see mine."
